Half of the core games of the fifth Pokémon generation, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 represented an interesting evolution in the franchise. Rather than releasing a more fleshed-out version of a pre-existing Pokémon title, GameFreak opted to create a fully-fledged sequel to Pokémon Black and White, taking place again in the Unova region but introducing players to a whole new adventure. The result was a pair of games that felt unique and exciting, despite retreading a lot of familiar territory.

Because Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 were released in 2012, their online functionality has since been shut down. You can still trade Pokémon locally, but online trading is gone, and special gifts sent online are long over. Keep this in mind if you plan on trying to complete your Pokédex.
