Splinter Assignment: The Ooze War Quest Phases
Welcome to Phase 4 of the TMNT / Fortnite crossover event! This phase has some fairly standard Fortnite quests, mixed in with one rather unorthodox (but honestly not that difficult) task to complete. You shouldn't have too much trouble with this one. Let's get to work!

There are a few rules associated with the Cowabunga event. For full details on how it works, please consult the guide for the first phase.

Phase 4: Give 'em Shell

Dash using Ninja Turtle Weapons

The Cowabunga event brings with it the weapons of the four turtles, and each one of them can perform two functions: Attacking and Dashing. Dashing works similarly to the Kinetic Blades from previous seasons, vaulting you through the air a short distance. You need to dash a bunch of times to complete this quest.

There are two ways to acquire Ninja Turtle Weapons, aside from defeating someone who already has one:
  • Collect one from a TMNT-themed Supply Drop - they look like the heads of the Ninja Turtles, and are visible at great distances
  • Purchase one from a TMNT-themed Vending Machine, located in a number of named locations (Ritzy Riviera, for example)
Dash ten times using a Ninja Turtle Weapon to receive 400 Ooze.

Comet targets some faraway opponents in Fortnite.

Hit opponents beyond 40 meters

Ranged weapons comprise the majority of your arsenal in Fortnite, and this quest wants you to take advantage of range to target enemies. You need to hit enemies beyond 40 meters, which means no close-up weapons. Stick to assault rifles and sniper rifles to complete this quest, and don't let your enemies get too close. (As far as I can tell, this only applies to other players, not Society enemies.)

Hit opponents beyond 40 meters forty times to receive 300 Ooze.

Comet uses some Flowberry Fizz to charge up her shields in Fortnite.

Reach full shields

You won't survive long in Fortnite without some added durability, and that means shields. You can apply up to 100 shields to your character at any one time. There are a number of ways to get shields:
  • Shield Potions
  • Small Shield Potions
  • Shield Fish
  • Mushrooms
  • Flowberry Fizz and Flowberries
  • Slurp Barrels
  • Slap Barrels
Reach full shields three times to receive 400 Ooze. You'll need to take damage and reapply shields each time to push the count up.

Comet applies Weapon Mods at a Mod Bench in Fortnite.

Apply Weapon Mods at a Mod Bench

Weapon Mods are a new addition to this season of Fortnite, expanding the capabilities of each weapon that you mod. Mod Benches are located inside vaults, which are protected by Society bosses in a number of named locations:
  • Lavish Lair
  • Reckless Railways
  • Grand Glacier
  • Fencing Fields
  • Snooty Steppes
  • The Loot Island (appears somewhere random near the end of the match)
To open the vault you'll need to defeat the boss and collect their Society Medallion. Track down the vault in that location and stand near the wall scanner to open it up. (Alternately, wait until someone else opens a vault, then sneak in and use the Mod Bench. Once the vault has been opened and abandoned they're usually pretty safe.)

Apply three Weapon Mods at a Mod Bench to receive 300 Ooze. You can apply all three mods in a single go, on a single gun, making this a relatively simple quest.

Comet targets a Society goon in Fortnite.

Damage opponents while at full health

Your green health bar doesn't typically stay full for long in a Fortnite match, but for this quest you need to preserve all 100 points of your HP. Hitting enemies at a distance will help keep you safe from damage, especially if you're fighting bots rather than people.

Inflict 500 points of damage to opponents while at full health to receive 300 Ooze.

Snooty Steppes, a location in Fortnite, which is currently a Hot Spot.

Land at a Hot Spot

During each match of Fortnite a few of the map's named locations will be assigned as Hot Spots. These locations spawn Supply Drones, flying targets that you can shoot down to receive a small supply of items. You can tell that a location is a Hot Spot based on the golden text that appears on the map when you begin the match.

Land at a Hot Spot to receive 300 Ooze. True to the their name, Hot Spots tend to be a bit more dangerous, so you may want to land at one from the bus and immediately make tracks for somewhere safer. Landing on a vehicle is a good way to flee damage.

Comet prepares to hurl some Cluster Bombs at unseen enemies in Fortnite.

Hit an opponent while not looking at them

This is the tricky quest of the phase, though it's not as difficult as it sounds. In most cases you'll see your opponents while damaging them, but it's quite possible to inflict damage when you're not within sight of an opponent. Your best bet for fulfilling this quest is to use Cluster Bombs. Wait until you know an enemy is nearby, then chuck the Cluster Bomb at them, likely down a hallway or into / over a building that blocks line of sight.

Hit an opponent while not looking at them to receive 300 Ooze. It doesn't matter how much damage you do, just that you inflict some pain.

Comet observes some shotgun ammo in Fortnite.

Collect shotgun shells

The final quest of this phase is perhaps the easiest: Just pick up shotgun shells. They appear as red tubes, and are usually sitting near a shotgun. You'll also get them from green Ammo Boxes, which are all over the place.

Collect 40 shotgun shells to receive 300 Ooze. This quest just requires a bit of random exploration, so you barely need to pay attention to it. Just play the game.
