Part 21: Become Martial Disciple

Freshly-minted as a Martial Disciple of Wudong Sect, Yi is given his first assignment in that role: Delivering a birthday gift to Castellan Cheng, of the far-off Chengjia Fortress. Not the most exciting job, but someone has to do it.

Speak to Master Daomiao, on the east side of Wudang Sect. He has three potential presents for Yi to take with him:

  • Weapon
  • Manual
  • Crude Drug

Oddly enough, Crude Drug is the correct (and, ultimately, only) choice to make. Daomiao insists that the present needs to be transported in a special box, however, and he doesn't have any. You'll have to travel to Tianming Village to get one.

Walk this path to get from Wudang Sect to Tianming Village:

  • Travel southeast of Wudang Sect until you see a waterfall on your right
  • Cross the bridge to the south of the waterfall, and keep going south until you reach Tancheng City
  • Follow the southbound path from Tancheng City to find Tianming Village

Speak to the Village Head, on the east side of Tianming Village. He can't deliver the box you need, unfortunately, as Xuanhuo Cult has occupied Purple Bamboo Forest, from which the villagers make the boxes in the first place. Yi will have to do something about that.

You might as well have a quick look around Tianming Village before moving on with the plot:

  • By the entrance of the village you'll find a largeish man named Zhao Yuan. He'll offer to purchase any Purple Bamboo that you harvest in Purple Bamboo Forest. Bring him ten and he'll give you 1,800 coins. You can keep doing this little loop if you need money.
  • In the northeast of Tianming Village you'll see a pig by a house. Next to the pig is a ladder that will take you to the top of the house. Go south off of the roof and you'll find a hidden chest containing Bamboo Shoots, Bamboo Fungus, Lotus Seeds, the Lotus-Bamboo Soup Recipe, Martial Arts Perceptions, and a Four-Time Refined Spirit Pill.
  • In the southwest of the village is a Merchant who sells several Board Games. Not a bad purchase if you want to build Affinity with villagers who like the things.

Head south through Tianming Village until you hit an apparent dead end with some Jade Ore. If you look west you'll find an obscured path to some Black Gold Ore, the village's fishing spot, and the entrance to Purple Bamboo Forest.

If you've been doing side quests - notably anything involving the Beggars' Sect - you'll already have visited Purple Bamboo Forest. It's a well-shaded little loop filled with enemies, some resources to harvest, and... that's about it. You can harvest Purple Bamboo, Bamboo Shoots, Danggui, Dangshen, Bamboo Fungus, Coal, Honghua, and Zhennan Wood as you explore Purple Bamboo Forest.

All you need to do is defeat ten of the Xuanhuo Cult Strongmen. They appear two at a time, so engage five of them as you explore and you'll be done with this task in no time. Speak to the Village Head after defeating ten Xuanhuo Cult Strongmen to receive some Deityland Brocade Boxes, Martial Arts Perceptions, and 8,000 coins.

Trek back to Wudang Cult and speak to Master Daomiao again. Pleased with Yi's work, he'll put together the Gift. Check out front of Sanqing Hall and you'll find Mowen waiting. He'll give you Mineral Drugs Powder and Royal Jelly, then join the party. Next stop, Tianshui City.
