To unlock this quest you'll first need to fix the cable car to the north of Meadow Range, which is a journey in and of itself (and will require a bunch of gold, Rocks, and Wood to complete, to boot). Once you've got the cable car operating again you'll find the notification for this quest on the Bulletin Boards of Moonbury Town.
Head to Hearts and Sparks Shop between 10:00 and 18:00, Monday to Sunday. (Though bear in mind that the store is closed Fridays.) Opalheart and Runeheart need their smithing equipment fixed and upgraded, and Forrest is too busy to collect the materials they need to get the job done. You'll have to do.
You'll need to gather two types of materials to get Opalheart and Runeheart working again:
- Five Gold Nuggets. Gold Nuggets are found inside the large, off-white stone mounds throughout Glaze Iceberg. They're rarer than the normal-sized rocks, so you may need to explore a bit - and come back a second time - before you get all five Nuggets.
- Ten Silver Nuggets. Silver Nuggets are easier to find than Gold. Bust open the smaller, black rocks on Glaze Iceberg to acquire Silver Nuggets. The larger, silver-flecked rock mounds in Meadow Range also drop Silver Nuggets, if you're heading through that area.
Bring the requested items back to Opalheart. She's usually found in the Hearts and Sparks Shop, though if you can't find her there she won't be too far away from the west side of Moonbury most of the time. She and Runeheart will set up their smithing stations, and when all is said and done you'll unlock Blacksmith Upgrade 1. This will allow you to upgrade your Iron tools to Steel tools, making them much more effective in the field. (Though bear in mind that you can't skip past the Iron stage.)
